Worship Confessional: 8/17/2008

August 17, 2008 By: Rick Category: Worship Confessional

I hadn’t anticipated playing again this week, but a last-minute change had me playing keyboards one more time. Consider this a bonus worship confessional.

I had rehearsed with another band earlier this week, so my Korg N1 was already at church. I just left it plugged in and went ahead and used it this morning for worship. Glad I did, too; I like the sound on it better than the one the church normally uses. It’s an older board–I’ve had it for about nine years–but it gets the job done and I don’t have to go searching for the sounds I need. I was told afterward that the sound sat better in the mix than our other keyboard also.

Here is the set for today:

  • Hosanna (Paul Baloche)
  • Change Me On The Inside (Brian Doerksen)
  • Grace Like Rain (Agnew & Collins) Our reggae version again, but this time I used a cool organ patch called “Organomics” and worked to get a tasteful treatment of the rotary effect.
  • Fall On Us Now (Dave Chumchal)
  • At All Times (Vicky Beeching)

Nothing new here, but we had a great worship service. It was good to have an extra week of this. I’ll probably be off for the next few weeks, but look forward to playing again when it’s my time. School is starting up in full swing this week, so I’m sure my next several posts will be related to that. Have a great week everybody!

How’d your worship go this weekend?

    Rick,
Bonus is good :) Tone makes such a huge difference when leading. It’s cool that you got to play your keyboard.

    hey Rick.

@B.McCoy: Yep, we’re a Vineyard church. You’re the second person in the last couple of weeks to comment that we did Chumchal’s stuff. I have only been playing at this church for the past 4 months or so, and I’m still getting familiar with a denomination-specific set list.

  5. Eh, does anyone ever do anything original? Hasn’t it all been done somewhere else before?

somehow i just noticed that the wrong link was attached to my name in the previous comment. wanted to clear that up.
I have been in a Vineyard Church for most of my life. My dad used to work for Vineyard Music USA, and i play drums with a worship leader named Jeremy Riddle who is from a vineyard church. Chumchal is a dear friend.

@B.McCoy: Thanks for the heads up Brandon. I went ahead and fixed the link in your previous comment as well. Thanks again for stopping by.

Our church loves “Hosanna”. I’ve loved from the first time I heard it on Brenton Brown’s Everlasting God album.
