Worship Confessional: 9/21/2008

September 21, 2008 By: Rick Category: Worship Confessional

Despite a really busy, emotionally-charged couple of weeks, or maybe because of it, I was glad to get back in the saddle at worship team again this week.  I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed playing until I was actually there at rehearsal on Thursday.  For some reason I found myself playing a Hammond-ish organ patch instead of the piano for most of the set, and it seemed to be a good fit in the mix really well.  Here’s our set for today:

  • At All Times (Vicky Beeching)
  • Psalm 113 (Rod True)
  • You Searched Me (Johan Heinrichs)
  • I’ll Be Still (Jennette & Travis Ross)
  • Jesus, Be The Center (Michael Frye)
  • Above All Else (Vicky Beeching)
  • Bring Me Back (Thys Meades)
  • More Love, More Power (Jude Del Hierro)

How was your worship weekend?

Included at Fred McKinnon’s Sunday Setlists.

Gotta-have Google

September 06, 2008 By: Rick Category: Google, Technology

With the release of the Chrome browser, this week, Google once again put another weapon into their ever-growing arsenal of web tools. I was taking inventory of all of the Google tools I use, and here’s what I came up with:

Essential, use everyday, can’t-live-without-it:

  • GMail
  • Calendar
  • Docs (form features)

Useful

  • Docs (documents and spreadsheets)
  • Picasa/Picasa Web
  • Sites
  • Bookmarks
  • Earth/maps

Tried it, don’t use it:

  • Docs (presentation)
  • Notebook
  • Page creator

I primarily use GMail and Calendar with Thunderbird, which syncs with and integrates both flawlessly. As a sidenote, though, when I need to print, I go straight to the web version. The setup feature has all but replaced my Outlook 2007 calendar at school. The last two on this list have been replaced by similar online services that I’ve found to work better. Oh well, guess Google can’t be the king of everything.

It will be interesting to see which category Chrome falls into as time goes on.

Have you tried Chrome yet? How else do you use Google?
