Quick Getaway, Part 1
Susan and I found a weekend to ourselves, so we decided to plan a quick trip to Portland and get out of Dodge for a while. We started out on Friday by getting some shopping done at the outlet mall, then we embarked on a paddlewheel boat dinner cruise on the Columbia River that evening. We see this part of the state every time we drive down I-84, but it was good to see it from a different perspective and not have to be driving the whole time.
We stayed in Cascade Locks that evening and visited the Portland Saturday Market, an open-air marketplace with a counterculture vibe. We managed to get lost in Powell’s books for most of that afternoon. All I can say is, I think I’ve got a digital SLR camera in my future. With that in mind, here is a slideshow of our cruise down the Columbia River Gorge that Friday. Stay tuned for Part 2, when we have an unexpected change of plans on Saturday Night.

Sometimes just switching the perspective can show and teach us so much!!! You see the same stretch of earth, kid in the 4th row, criminal in court, etc…from one angle…..but when you turn that angle as your trip illustrates, the view can be incredibly different!
Good point “B” Rick….
