Statewide In-service
I hosted our district counselors in-service today. As usual, we had good food and good professional support to one another throughout the day. Some highlights include:
- We need to complete our district counseling curriculum to match up with all of the state standards. Due at the end of this year.
- Job descriptions: We need to look at these at another meeting
- Hospice came in to present grief/counseling materials to us. Contact Bonnie with your lists. We need to call more.
- Wal-Mart gave us some glasses care kits and we discussed means to provide check-ups and prescriptions with funds that are available to us. We also discussed them coming in to our activity day next year in order to check our kinder, 2nd, and 4th grade students. This would be a HUGE improvement over our current method of vision screenings. Also, they may come in
- Afternoon was spent in restraint training.

Rick… thanks for all that you did to have activities scheduled for our inservice. You also bring a GREAT balance between having a good time and keeping us on task. Everything we did yesterday was very applicable. I appreciated it.

sorry I missed the ‘gathering’ offered in-district this last Friday. Rarely do I feel better than after those get togethers. However, meeting with fellow Oregon State counselors in Bend -200 in number, was very enlightening. The OSCA crew send you their best Rick. Next years OSCA event will be held at Lincoln City at the Chinock Casino Resort and are hoping the state counselors take the time to gather and network-they are hoping for 250 in number.
Deb Decker feels that she and other surrounding area counselors, who have no one to meet with, would still love the once or twice a year get together that includes them.

RicK;
I agree with Michelle, you do such a good job keeping us on task, especially me. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and professionalism in putting this together. I don’t know what I would do without the support of the counselors in this school district. You are all awesome. Deb
